Interests & Keywords

Interests & Keywords
fun.app uses an Interest & Keyword system to help you discover content, communities, and people that match your preferences — and to make your own presence more discoverable to others.

Interests

Interests are curated groupings of content based on themes you choose. Each interest may include:

Users
Communities
Topics
Tags
Keyword
When you sign up, you're prompted to select interests — but you can update them any time by clicking “Manage Interests” on the App homepage.

Once you follow interests they will appear in your fun.app explore (feeds/content).

Important:
Selecting an interest does not automatically make you follow users or communities. To continue seeing that content across the network, you’ll need to follow the interest manually from the homepage.

Becoming Discoverable via Keywords
If you want your profile or community to appear within an Interest, you need to tag it with at least one keyword associated with that interest.

Once a keyword is applied:

Your profile or community will appear under that interest on the homepage
Users exploring that interest may discover your presence more easily

Keywords
Keywords are descriptive labels created by fun.app administrators to improve search, discovery, and content tagging across the network.

You can apply up to five keywords to each of the following:

Your profile
Your community
Any collection you create
Any channel you manage

Applying a keyword connects that item to the larger network of content tagged with the same term — making it easier for others to discover your presence or content when browsing or searching by keyword.

How Keywords Work when assigned to each type:

on Profiles
Keywords are site-specific, meaning you can choose different keywords for your profile on each site.
When posting, you can choose to invisibly tag your content with any of your profile’s keywords — for example, if you’ve selected the keyword “viral”, you can apply the invisible tag #viral to your post.
Keyword tags don’t appear publicly on the post unless you choose to make them visible.
Using keywords helps boost your discoverability when other users search or browse by that term.

on Communities
Keywords apply to the entire community.
Any post published within that community will automatically inherit the community’s selected keywords.
This helps make both the community and its content more discoverable across the network.

on Collections & Channels
Keywords can be added to collections and channels to improve how they appear in search results and discovery pages.
However, these keywords do not affect the posts inside the collection or channel — they only apply to the container itself.

In short:

Interests are how you discover content.

Keywords are how others discover you.
